Cardiff and Vale College current and former learners Ffion Traylor and Beth Mytton have won It’s My Shout Awards 2026 for their performances both on the screen and behind the scenes.
It’s My Shout is a Welsh-based independent film production company dedicated to discovering and nurturing new talent in the film and television industry. Founded in 2002, it offers hands-on experience across various aspects of filmmaking, including acting, directing, screenwriting, camera work, sound, design, and post-production.
Each year, It’s My Shout produce a number of short films, both dramas and documentaries, in collaboration with broadcast partners, BBC Wales and S4C, providing participants with the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals and gain practical skills.
At the It’s My Shout Awards 2026, which celebrate the achievements of those who participated in the scheme, former CAVC Performing Arts Practice (Musical Theatre) learner Beth Mytton won joint Best Supporting Actress for playing the role of Lucy in the film Waiting for Burton, which was shot in Merthyr Tydfil.
CAVC Film and Media Production student Ffion Traylor won the award for Best Script Supervisor. Ffion was involved in the films The Green Cottage and Waiting for Burton as a script supervisor trainee. This was her second year of being involved in It’s My Shout, and the experience has helped her gain a job as an office runner at production company Good Gate Media.
Cardiff and Vale College Principal Sharon James-Evans said: “Congratulations to Beth and Ffion for winning these awards! At CAVC we aim to provide opportunities that are real, not realistic, and over the years our learners have gained valuable work experience in all aspects of film making from acting through to costume design and hair and makeup, so we have seen first-hand the excellent work that It’s My Shout does.”
