Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) is once again proud to be supporting the popular Gŵyl Fach y Fro when it returns to Barry Island this Saturday 17th May.
Organised by Menter Iaith Bro Morgannwg, Gŵyl Fach y Fro is the largest celebration of Welsh language and culture in the Vale of Glamorgan and a prominent event in the Barry calendar. It it’s tenth year, this unique annual festival features a huge range of live music from well-known Welsh language bands through to local schools, street food and drinks, art and craft stalls and children’s workshops all along Barry Island Prom and Gardens.
Cardiff and Vale College is the main partner for the festival, a partnership that aligns with the College’s commitment to growing opportunities for everyone to speak, learn and live in Welsh. The college is proud to offer bilingual learning, support and assessment for Welsh speakers, to enable all to continue to develop their Welsh language skills for their future life and work. It also encourages non-welsh speakers to develop their skills and everyone to engage in Welsh language, culture and life throughout their time at college.
With a near 70-year history of working in Barry, the College has recently confirmed a £119million investment into the Vale, with two brand new college campuses – a community campus just down the road from the festival at Barry Waterfront, and an Advanced Technology Campus by Cardiff Airport. These exciting developments will further the opportunities for young people, adults and our community now and for the future.

Each year we have more learners using their Welsh in their learning and for their future.
