Former Cardiff and Vale College student and rap artist Juice Menace teams up with FAW to release exclusive track for 2023 Women’s World Cup

Former Cardiff and Vale College student turned emerging rap star Juice Menace has released an exclusive track to celebrate the Cymru team ahead of the 2023 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The track, ‘For Her’, focuses on the FAW’s Cymru team ‘For Us, For Them, For Her’ messaging which aims to inspire a future generation of footballers and acknowledge former Cymru internationals.

Juice Menace said: “I feel honoured to be asked to work on this song. I hope I have created a soundtrack that can empower young girls and women across Wales and beyond; it really is a track ‘For Her’.

“Everything around the team and women’s football at the moment is really exciting and I’m so happy to be involved. The team has been so inspiring throughout the campaign, and I hope the track can help Cymru and the Red Wall to the next level in this qualifying campaign.”

Juice – aka Destiny Jones – was actually in one of her CAVC Music Technology classes when her big break came. Having put out a couple of freestyles and remixes online, when a talent scout from Warner Music UK tried to get in touch she thought it was a joke, Juice told WalesOnline recently. The scout, who is now her manager, finally got through to her while she was in College and she had to step out of her class to take the call.

The 22-year-old from Bridgend had dropped out of her A Levels to pursue a career in music. But she told her mum she would study Music Technology at CAVC.

Juice thought the course would give her a background in recording, producing and putting songs together. CAVC, with its top-class facilities, industry expert staff and recording studio, seemed ideal.

“I was like, ‘two birds, one stone – amazing,” Juice told WalesOnline. “I could start this thing properly and keep my mum happy because I was pursuing education.”

Her tutor was “so supportive” of her plans for the future, she added.

Having consistently produced music ever since, Juice was approached by fellow Welsh rapper Sage Todz for a collaboration with the FAW. Sage had worked on the soundtrack ‘O Hyd’ for the men’s Wales team.

Cardiff and Vale College Principal Sharon James said: “Congratulations to Juice – getting talent spotted while still at College and then being asked to write an anthem for the Cymru women’s team is such an amazing achievement! We are all very proud of you and glad that we helped you along the way to what will only be a shining career in the music industry.”
